Your first outing with your newborn baby may likely be for your Sydney newborn photography session for your baby’s newborn photos, and that can feel a little overwhelming, particularly when it’s your first baby.

I understand this feeling well as when I had my first son’s newborn photos taken. I wasn’t given much information on what to expect or what to bring along, and it ended up being a pretty stressful experience. My goal is to ensure that you feel completely prepared and confident for your newborn photo session.
I believe in providing comprehensive information and a gentle approach to make this experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for you. This ensures you feel welcomed and looked after during what is an exciting yet delicate time for a new mother.

How to prepare for your Sydney Newborn Photography session

The Day Before:

Newborns might be tiny, but the amount of stuff we need for them as we leave the house feel like you’re bringing the whole house with you!
To ease the stress, I recommend packing your nappy bag the day before. Include a few extra nappies, bottles if needed, and all the usual nappy bag essentials. Don’t worry if you forget something—I keep spare nappies, wipes, and toiletries for mums at the studio.

If you’re breastfeeding, it’s a good idea to avoid caffeine and spicy foods the day before your session. This will help keep your baby comfortable.

The Morning Of:

A calm, sleepy baby leads to a relaxed session for both of you.
Try to keep your baby awake in the morning by giving them a bath. Then, give them a big feed just before you leave home or upon arriving at the studio. Newborn sessions can last a while, so make sure you have a good breakfast beforehand. The studio is also stocked with snacks and drinks for your convenience. Remember to allow extra time for leaving the house and dealing with traffic; parking at the studio is easy and accessible.

What to Expect When You Arrive for your Sydney Newborn Photography Studio Session:

I have created a studio space that is a calm and inviting space, filled with natural light.
A space where you can just be, without the distractions of daily life.
A space for you to focus on the love and connection with your new baby.

I provide everything needed for the session, including soft wraps, blankets, and a selection of adorable outfits in timeless, neutral tones. When you arrive I will have your selected wardrobe pieces ready for you to try on. You can show up in your Lululemon and I’ll take care of the rest!

With years of experience handling newborns, I will gently settle your baby for the session. The session is led by your newborn, allowing time to soothe, feed or change baby as needed. Throughout the session, I invite you to relax and enjoy watching as the moments unfold, always prioritizing your baby’s safety and comfort.

Your Newborn Baby Photos:

Your newborn baby is perfection; their little personality, the sweet faces they make as they yawn and wriggle. The tiny little fingers and toes and flaking skin. All of these aspects of your baby are precious and beautiful, and the time they are this small is so fleeting.
Throughout the session I will photograph your baby on their own to capture all the unique details that make up their little self.

Photos with parents are just as important, as this is a significant moment for your family, and a time you will all look back on lovingly. There’s something incredibly special about looking back at photos where your baby fit perfectly in your arms, finding comfort in your embrace.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT SARAH

As a lover of art, design, and the timeless craft of photography, I find my true bliss with a camera in hand, capturing moments that transcend the ordinary.

From a young age, I eagerly borrowed my mother's Kodak cameras. Each click of the shutter ignited a profound curiosity within me, and couldn't wait to see what was revealed on the developed film.
I've always been fascinated by the power of photography to capture raw emotion and preserve cherished memories, and how those humble photographs will tell our stories for generations to come.
