As a Sydney children’s portrait photographer, I spend so much time capturing beautiful moments for my clients. But every January, I make sure to take time out for a personal project that is incredibly close to my heart—my January Photo A Day Project.
A 15-Year Tradition of Love and Memories
For the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated January to photographing my two boys daily. Each image is paired with a little love letter—a way to freeze time and hold onto these fleeting childhood moments.
This project isn’t just about the big moments; it’s about the everyday ones—the way the morning light falls across their faces, the quiet moments of concentration, the bursts of laughter over silly jokes, but most of all it’s to capture their little faces changing over the years, and the incredible bond between brothers. There’s magic in the ordinary, and love weaved throughout and I want to remember it all. This project has created a beautiful collection of memories of their childhood, taken from their mother’s perspective.
Why Black & White Photography?
Black and white photography has always had my heart. Each year, these images come together in a timeless series, captured in classic black and white. Stripping away colour allows the focus to be on emotion, composition, light, and storytelling—something I deeply love in my photography.
Looking Back
With another January project wrapped up, I love reflecting on past years. Below is a glance of the photos from the past six years of this project, from 2025 back to 2020. These photos are a testament to how fast time moves and how these photography allows us to hold on to the moments.

Capturing your children’s memories
Do you have a favourite way to document your children’s childhood? I always encourage everyone to take photos of their everyday moments, because it’s not the perfect portraits, but the funny expressions, the adventured travelled, and the little details that come together to tell a story of your little one’s childhood.
Photographs are one of the most beautiful ways to preserve childhood. If you’d love a collection of authentic, emotive children’s portraits in Sydney that capture your little ones just as they are, get in touch to chat more.
